so there's this guy, and as far as i know he's the secretary of the local homeowners' association. so one would think he would know something about his local town. also, he's the manager of a place i'll call the "grey gull inn" which is down the street from where i work.
so this guy forwards his association an email about vet offices helping out with the gulf oil spill and says that this is an issue local people had better take seriously because we "don't have a local vet" who can help out in emergencies.
HELL-FRICKIN-O!!
someone didn't check the local red cross registry where we are an emergency shelter. someone didn't watch the statewide news show(s) about my office taking in rescue dogs twice. someone seems unaware that my office is just a few short blocks down the same street and that my boss is on 24/7 emergency call.
i find myself questioning whether he's actually that stupid, or perhaps just a world-class jerk.
Sorry, I'm lost. Was this guy trying to help and was simply not aware of your services? It sounds like an opportunity to introduce what services you provide the Ocean Shores community and a way to network more to such a small town. You never know this "jerk" could be a great ally since he is so outspoken about things that could effect the community. -TH
ReplyDeletei suppose one could argue that he didn't know we were just a few blocks up the street from his business (and had been for years) and that several of his employees brought feral cats from his business property to us for care - except that he gave permission to those employees to let the cats stay on the premises provided they were "fixed" - which we did, at no cost to his business, thanks to the generosity of our community. thanks for the vote of good confidence, but i think he was just being a jerk.
ReplyDeletei should add that most people who get upset over not getting free services for their pets because "don't we love animals?" act in a similar manner and say we "won't help". not that i remember this guy specifically being denied free services, but we always do what we can to help homeless or feral pets, we just ask that people who own animals plan to pay for their care.
